Yes, I finally had a few minutes to update and show what I've been doing with my time. I have decided to pursue my Bachelor degree in Fine Arts at the Academy of Art University, and have done pretty much nothing but art since then. Da proof. Enjoy!

I am excited about this art opening! Last time I took place in a show at Barrister's Gallery it turned into a fun party, not to mention the variety of artwork was just stunning! There will be a DJ and, of course, wine.

I am also exhibiting 3 never shown pieces!

Barristers is at 2331 St. Claude Ave and Spain in the Maringy in New Orleans.

I have everyone's favorite print now for sale at Etsy! I finally got a high quality scan of the drawing, and it turned out just fabulous.

March-April Shows

I have been busy putting together new shows... please see shows for full details and dates.

I will be printing some archival-quality prints of a few select works, and am interested in what you, yes you!, sitting there staring at the computey, might be interested in purchasing. Which pieces would you like to see inexpensive prints of? Would you pay $20, $50, less or more for, say, an 11" x 14" limited-edition full color print of one of my paintings or drawings? Would you be more interested in buying a print at a local gallery, through a website, or in person? I want to know what you have to say!

I have been so busy I have not been able to blog regarding my newest gallery show at Barristers Gallery. It is an amazing show with 32 artists' work up. If you have not been able to come by and you are in the New Orleans area, be sure not to miss it!

I have been able to, with the help of MissMalaprop, show you some of my art in much better detail. She was able to scan in a few images at high resolution, which I am very excited about. This allows me to offer a few of my pieces as high quality giclees at Fine Art America. The images that are now clearer and better than ever are:

I have my newest painting... drum roll please...

I have honestly not been ignoring the website, nor have I fallen over the face of the earth, but have been working on a new painting. It is another fetish one, with gas mask and bondage and some naughty bits I won't be able to post on here... I will find a place I can post the entire painting. I can, however show you part of it now, sans the naughty bits. Note that it is not yet completed (as of this writing).

New openings, news and art

Wow. I've been busy, so much going on but all of it has come off smoothly: hard work DOES occasionally pay off! I've successfully pulled off two art openings today and finished one more painting since I last blogged. All this and a new job this week just in time to be extra-busy for Halloween weekend!

The first art opening was the first day of The Oyster Factory, and the show is called Venus Rising: Women Artists From the Gulf. There will be an artists reception, in conjunction with St Claude Arts' District on November 8th, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. as well. (Psst... free oysters and beer!)

The second opening was held at the Dragon's Den. We are going to extend the opening to next Saturday night, from 6-9pm. The artists are: Bellavia, Shadow Angelina, Candace MacKenroth, and of course me, Raven Creature. If you are about New Orleans the show will be up for at least a month so if you can't stop by on our loooong opening please check it out on another day and patronize them. They are awesome to work with and good people, so I recommend also checking out their many concerts and other gigs. They always have some fabulousness happening!

I also need to mention that since I have work up at now 3 places in town, I have temporarily depleted my Etsy shop of ten pieces until I either sell the pieces in one of the venues, or the shows end. Prospect One has just started and ends March 15. I hope by then in any case the pieces are sold! And need I mention that I am already busily planning new pieces? I thought not!

My newest piece is Suicide or, Life in Color, Disembodied. I hope you like it!

Experimenting with Photography

I found a beautiful gourd and used it as a subject for a series of photographs. Please check them out and let me know what you think!

Alien landscapes in the textures...
This one looks like an alien skull to me.
This one in particular is weirdly sexual.
And one with peacock feathers for my best friend!

In particular I am studying light and shadow, with strong color values. The colors I have not touched, the only digital messing-about I did was with the levels.

Creature Studios own Search Engine!

I decided Creature Studios needed a search engine. It searches all of the ravencreature.com pages and the blog. I will keep it on the Creature Studios home page, at least for now.

... which are a new page, Artists Statement, and better naming conventions and links. I also got tired of the look of the blog so it looks a bit more like the rest of the pages. (It's through a separate service so my options are limited.)

Second, I wish to give you, dear readers, a sneak preview of my newest piece. It is not quite done yet. I shall of course post again when it is complete. Self-portrait in oil on canvas:

Third, I am taking place in a show at a new art gallery, The Oyster Factory. The show is called "Venus Rising – Women Artists from the Gulf". The Grand Opening of the Oyster Factory, and the start of the show is November 1. I would love to see all of you in the area there!

Evacucation

Dear Mom and Dad,

This evacu-cation really sucks. Here are my friends in a coffeeshop in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Actually, it wasn't really that bad. Getting there was no problem. We played cards and drank wine and just hung out and watched the news to make sure our homes weren't destroyed. It was terrible getting back in though, as our militant government would not let us in. Imagine being stuck in a car with 3 cats, 2 doves, and 2 people for 12 hours because they won't let you into your city. Argh. Power was out, a bit of flooding here and there but all minor. Tree bits here and there. By Thursday we had power and even internet by the evening!

I have entirely too many projects going and nothing actually done. Lazybones. After being off work for a week, too. Honestly I have been working on art, but nothing is done enough to show... Except for a sneak at this lovely piece (the photo I took and tweaked for the piece):
